Spring Lawn Care Tips

When the temperatures start to rise and snow begins to fade, it’s time for you to get outside and get dirty. Before you just run out and start mowing your barely growing lawn, read a few tips from the garden and lawn pros.

  • Check Those Hoses

This is actually good advice throughout the spring to fall seasons. After sitting around all winter though, your hoses can begin to crack due to drying out or from the cold weather. If you find yourself looking for a new hose, be sure you look for one that is long enough to easily cover your whole yard and gardens.

  • Is Your Grass Actually Thirsty?

Once you see those little green blades beginning to pop up more frequently, it can be tempting to run outside and start watering the lawn down in the hopes of tweaking the growing process. The truth is, this can actually be detrimental to your lawn. When grass is just starting to grow, it is the roots that are doing the real growth. A drier soil helps these roots take hold and grow down deeper, making your grass stronger during droughts and times with little water.

  • Don’t Ignore Bald Spots

As you are making your way through your yard, keep an eye out for bald spots and spotty areas. If you do not take care of these areas right away, the weeds will manage to find a way into them. You can choose to use either sod or grass seed to fill in the spots, but do not leave them to the weeds.

These are just three of the top pro tips from local lawn care company experts. If you think you may need an extra hand, feel free to reach out to a professional for more assistance.
